[The Wainwright Prize]
The Wainwright Prize is awarded each year for nature and conservation writing. The prizes for the winning author in each category include a specially commissioned artwork. I was selected by the organisers of the prize to be the artist in residence for 2023, and produced three artworks that were given as prizes to the winners in the three categories: nature writing, writing on conservation, and children's writing on nature and conservation.
Paper manufacturers James Cropper sponsored the prize, and commissioned me to make two additional pieces highlighting the surprising range of materials they use in paper production - in this case, denim and rosemary, as shown in the pictures below.
